Hamza Sheikh is an alcoholic who beats up his wife Badrunissa “Badra” Sheikh (née Ansari) after drinking every night for three years of their love marriage. Badru finds many ways to get him to stop drinking. One of them is claiming to have children with Hamza. Hamza is constantly at odds with the rest of society over repairs to the shack they live in. Badru attends one of the meetings where final decisions are made on building repairs. Badru attends her meeting despite her Hamza not asking her and he gets beaten up again. Working part-time at the chala, Zulfi often visits Badra and her mother, Shamshunissa “Shamshu” Ansari. He knows about the daily torture Badru is subjected to. He files a complaint against Hamza for physical abuse. Hamza is arrested but promises Badr that he will give up drinking as soon as he has a baby. Badru gets Hamza out of jail and suffers more insults from Hamza who doesn’t change. Hamza then finds out that he has cirrhosis of the liver and will die if he doesn’t stop drinking. Returning home that evening, Hamza finds out that Badru is pregnant with his child and pretends to give up drinking to keep his promise. In fact, he stopped drinking not because of Badru’s pregnancy, but because of cirrhosis of the liver. Meanwhile, Hamza is preoccupied with finding out who made the accusations against him. He eventually finds out that Zulfi did it and that Badru knew about it all along. Despite knowing that Badru is pregnant, Hamza still beats her, suspecting that Badru and Zulfi are having an affair. He suspects that the child born in Badru is not his. Hamza brutally beats Badra and pushes her down her stairs, causing her to miscarry. On this day, Hamza was sober and portrayed the real demon in him. After being hospitalized and losing a child, Badru vows to treat Hamza the same way he treated him. She comes home, feeds him sleeping pills, ties his hands and feet, and beats and tortures him like he did to her. Meanwhile, Hamza’s boss returns home to inquire after Hamza. Badr and Shamshu lie that he went to the village when his father died, but they can’t get away with it. He is told that Hamza is ill. Badru starts injecting Hamza with the injections her mother received with Qasim’s help. Hamza runs away after lying to Zulfi when the women go to the store. Badru and Shamshu return home shocked. Police immediately arrive and confirm that Hamza is missing because he is a member of the government union. They suspect a romance between Zulfi and Badru and try to arrest Zulfi. Badru, Shamshu and Zulfi arrive at the police station to bring him home. Shamshu and Zulfi offer to tie Hamza to the railroad tracks to kill him. Badru records a video which mentions running away with Hamza (indicating that he committed suicide). They tie him to the train tracks when Badru realizes she is just like Hamza and frees him just before her train passes. Now, Hamza has sworn to avenge Badr when he is hit by a train. On the way back to her house, Shamshu confesses to Badru that her father also abused the former even after Badru was born. One day Shamshu also killed Badra’s father and asked Qasim’s help to dispose of the body. Afterwards, he was reported missing, but the police couldn’t find him. Shamshu is convinced that he made the right decision to leave him for good before Badra dies. Badru also believes that this is a result of Hamza’s actions. A few days later, Hamza has a funeral. Badru smiles as he wanders the city alone, hoping for a better future and happy to be free now.
