This film is probably the worst I have seen in recent years. Usually films based on true events are “average” by default because they don’t have to have a creative script, the thing that is “true” itself involves the audience, so the filmmakers don’t have to make extra efforts. Amazing Here, they have shown a real life exciting historical event and the great skill of the character of the raw patriotic agent.
The film laughs at everything. From start to finish, it doesn’t improve.. in fact the second half is worse. As you would expect from an Akshay Kumar flick.. the female roles are short and worthless. The funniest thing is Lara dutta’s attempt to play Indira Gandhi. She doesn’t look like a 3rd copy of indira ji.
The negative characters acted like circus clowns and there was not a single moment of excitement, fear or desperation even when the situations were as dire as the kidnapping. The screenplay is deeply infected with cartoonish exaggeration and everyone’s acting generally looks fake. The songs and emotional scenes are pushed too hard every time and you won’t connect with the story at any time. Akshay Kumar tried to be James Bond and an Indian patriot soldier at the same time, stealing all the attention again trying to take responsibility for everything, a one man show. Everyone listens to him and lets him do everything as he likes. This unbelievable rubbish is light years away from the truth. Graphics, Makeup, background, just name it and I will tell you how bad its loss is by the makers of this film. Please save yourself the torture and skip this one.

In 1984, Indian Airlines Flight 691 (similar to Indian Airlines Flight 421) was hijacked, the seventh hijacking in India in five years, with all previous ones ending with the hijackers allowing other terrorists to be freed and money to be delivered. During her briefing, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, frustrated by the lack of action taken on the matter, decided to allow a RAW agency called “Bell Bottom” to handle the case. As an “ordinary” clerk, he has been viewed with horror by other officials, and his deduction that the alleged masterminds, the Khalistan separatist group called “Azaadi Dal” (lit. ’Liberation Organisation’), are just ahead of Pakistan. The ISI is opposed by them for improving Indo-Pakistani relations. After the plane lands in Amritsar when he was supposed to land in Lahore, he is kicked out. However, his boss points out that he is an expert in hijacking planes and is motivated by personal experience.
In 1979, polymath Anshul Malhotra lives with his mother Raavi, an asthmatic who often visits his brother in London, and his wife Radhika. His escape is hijacked by terrorists, but at that time PM Morarji Desai and the President of Pakistan Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq negotiate and fulfill the demands of the hijackers in exchange for the release of the hostages. However, Raavi dies, due to natural causes. Soon after, Anshul is kidnapped by RAW, revealing that one of the hijackers, Daljeet “Doddy” Singh, had deliberately grabbed his inhaler, pushed him into the galley and threw heavy blankets over him, increasing his suffering as he lay dying. Anshul is offered to join RAW; he accepts and takes the code name Bell Bottom, and covers for his wife that she is a diplomat. He convinces him to “break the script” and not allow the Pakistani side to send their negotiating team, and orders them not to refuel. an airplane. In response, Zia sends his minister to monitor the situation. In Lahore, the minister replaces the kidnapped person with Doddy and provides weapons and explosives. Correctly thinking that they are going to the Middle East to take advantage of their foray into air terrorism, Anshul organizes a covert operation in Dubai against the wishes of Indian ministers. Anshul’s “plan B”, sending in the Indian army, is further curtailed when officials in Dubai are informed and the ship they are on is denied entry. When all roads are closed, the clergy will negotiate; although they agree to the demands of terrorist money, the release of more terrorists, and a flight to London for their release, they are surprised by the extreme brutality of the terrorists and one of them has been taken as a “VIP” target to be arrested until they go to London. Seemingly helpless, Anshul asks their airport contact to take them to the under-construction terminal so they can check out the process; however this is a ruse as Anshul reveals his knowledge of the contact’s betrayal and arrests him. Posing as airport staff, they take advantage of the storm to enter the field, free the VIPs, and arrest the terrorists, re-sending the plane to India. Dubai’s leader denies them at first, but after Anshul explains how their ways fit into Dubai’s personality, he gives in. In India, the terrorists are booked, and the Zia and ISI leaders are disgraced, and the plane is returned, with all on board safe and sound and reunited with their families. Finally, it is revealed that Radhika was working for RAW and had told them about her husband’s abilities and background in the first place.
